Japanese Garden Party

Date:September 4, 2012
" These were ideal for my daughter's outdoor "Japanese Garden" theme party. We were so surprised that they actually survived two rainstorms before we took them down. We are sure to use them again next party and will likely get more. "

A little understated

Date:February 21, 2014
" Okay, I like this product well enough, but if it had been the only garland or hanging item up I'd have been a little underwhelmed, maybe even disappointed. For the clearance price I paid, it was definitely worth purchasing! Otherwise, I'd go with a little higher quality lantern.
I decorated the inside of our apartment for a first birthday party. It went above a long center table used as the gift spot. I think it's meant to hang from wall to wall, but I envisioned it hanging from the ceiling. The piece is VERY long and when I first put it up, it hung too low and looked like a U. I tied the ribbon in-between each lantern up into a bow (some were double-knotted to prevent them from coming untied). Then it was the correct length for my couch length table. But I wanted it to still hang down, midway between the ceiling and the table. I fastened two tan cords (pretty, white ribbon would have done easily, but I liked the texture and color) to the ends, hung those from the ceiling and then used clear wire to pull the ends of the cord so the lanterns hung more horizontally. The clear wire was from wall to wall. If I had wanted to hang the lantern this way, I think it was nearly long enough for that, but I wanted the visual effect in a smaller space. It wasn't perfect, there was still some bowing in the middle, but the image I wanted was mostly reached.
I do plan to save these and re-use them again when the occasion arises, but I think it may have been better for me to get a few of these. The lanterns are fairly small (roughly around six inches in length when opened), so for a more dramatic effect, I'd need several to string along the walls. The material can be easily smashed and even torn . . . if you say, have a curious three year old who handles them without your knowledge. However the damage was unnoticeable when hung, I'm happy to say.
